Account numbers at all local banks convert to UBAN!
As of October 6, 2017, the use of UBAN will be mandatory for money transfers such as EFT, money order and virman.
UBAN is an international bank account number that will be used instead of existing customer accounts in local banks and created according to a certain standard in order to make money transfers quickly, accurately and at low cost.
What are the Purpose and Benefits of UBAN?
The purpose of UBAN is to ensure that money transfers are made error-free and fast. When UBAN is not used, it is not possible to be sure of the correctness of the number as there is no certain standard in account numbers. In case the money transfer is not realized or sent to the wrong account as a result of the wrong account number, correcting the error takes time and causes additional costs. However, since the account numbers are arranged in a suitable format according to a certain standard with UBAN and the accuracy is checked by the banks with a special encryption algorithm, such errors in money transfers are minimized.
What Should Our Customers Do?
Every customer who has the account or accounts subject to money transfer will apply to the relevant bank to get the UBANs of their accounts. The customer who receives his UBAN will notify the sender of his UBAN as the account number to be used in money transfers to be made to him. Customers who will transfer money will notify their banks of the recipient's UBAN before making the transfer.How Can You Find Out Your Account's UBAN?
